A speeding driver did not realise a marked police car was following them up the motorway because they were singing.

North West Motorway Police caught the car driving at 91 mph and weaving across lanes on the M62 on Friday.

The car was travelling east between junction 6-7 just before 10pm on Friday afternoon.

In a short clip post by Merseyside Police’s road traffic unit on twitter, the driver can be seen driving at 91 mph for almost two minutes before noticing the police car behind it and pulling up on the hard shoulder.

The tweet said: “Vehicle seen M62 East Jnc6-7 travelling in excess of the speed limit. Stopped and driver reported for offence- 91.99 mph.

“Driver stated they were too busy singing to notice the Marked BMW X5 behind them.

“They were also weaving across lanes and especially not acceptable with a marked police vehicle behind them.”
